Between Questions and Certainties

These two are probably the best animated characters I have seen so far. They're hilarious, with the typical Italian attitude. Just so cool.

This is a pic from last year of Henrik and I before a Spanish class. I can't really explain how Spanish lessons are, I guess you have to see for yourself. Every single lesson (and I'm not joking, seriously every lesson) me and Henrik do something stupid. Well I guess we prevent the rest of the class from being literally bored to death.
Now, about Henrik. He's a good friend and I trust him (even when he forgets our Spanish assignments). I can say he only has one major problem, the musical taste (composed of about 3 bands), lol just joking Henrik.

If god is all-powerful, can he make a rock that he cannot lift?

That's just a play on words.

How come?

August -
Because it requires the person being asked to walk into the trap. In reality there is no such thing as a rock you cannot lift, and God will still be almighty after he created the rock, because the rock will still be liftable. If there is a God, I very much doubt he gives a fuck about the laws of physics.

Luca -
The question was, can God make something that he himself cannot undo? Therefore questioning his power, using the rock as an example of God's obstacle.

I still find it a pretty stupid question, but nevermind.

It's tricky.. Ok how about another one.
A branch falls off a tree in a forest, there is nobody in the forest. when the branch hits the ground, is there any sound?

Philosofically: No, no one can hear anything, thus no sound.
Physically: Yes, air is compressed and pressed aside, thus creating a wave of air, also know as a sound wave.

According to what you just said, there is no answer to the question. Your answers cancel each other out...So how do you answer the question?

August -
Exactly, There is no answer. All questions are not answerable.

Ok, it depends on how you approach the question, either scientifically or philosophically. However there isn't a fixed answer.. But then, if we know that all questions are not answerble, why do we ask?

Haha thats one way of putting it! But think about it...why does human never give up on trying to find an asnwer on question that humans themselves invent.

By the way did you know that people with higher IQs have a considerably higher risk of commiting suicide, even though they generally have better living standards?

Thinking is bad for you, and the smarter you are, the more you realise, you are actually NOTHING. Absolutely nothing. If you disappear no one will remember you the day after tomorrow...Kind of a killing blow to your ego but there we go.

Ok, you're making sense.. but why do we keep trying then? Why do people want to get higher and higher in life? Deep inside we all don't give a shit about each other really... we just want to get somewhere high in life. If what u said is acknowledged...why the fuck do we do that? Why do we keep trying to be something in life if we all turn to ash at the end of the day?

Because faith is the last thing to leave us. We need to think that we are special, because if we don't, then what's the point? Everything in life suddenly loses its meaning. Every thought worth thinking, and every action worth doing, has already been done.

You know, I think the biggest problem of humanity is that we humans ask too many questions..Questions that were never meant to be asked..answers that were never meant to be searched for.. and we keep wanting more and more and more

Trying to find a meaning to the life we live...but life itself is too short for that.

That's why democracy wont last. It kills itself in the end. I mean look at the young people our age today. We don't give a flying fuck about politics. We don't get involved in who is ruling us.

For example, take a scientist and an average person and place them under an immense sky full of stars at night. The scientist wont find it beautiful, but the average person will find it beautiful. That's because the scientist will be too interested in asking himself why he sees that, and why it looks that way, and what is its purpose...In that case i would rather be the average person. I might not get that important PHD at the end of the day like the scientist, but I probably enjoyed that image at the end of the day while the scientist didn't.
